The Mission
At Salty Saber, we believe the water holds a unique power to heal invisible wounds. Through guided fishing experiences, we create safe, judgment-free spaces where veterans and first responders can step away from the weight of trauma and rediscover calm, connection, and purpose.
No prior fishing experience is required — only a willingness to cast a line and begin healing. Each trip offers more than recreation: it provides gentle mindfulness, the soothing rhythm of nature, meaningful camaraderie with those who truly understand, and moments of quiet triumph that rebuild confidence and hope.
We exist so that those who served our nation can find relief from PTSD and trauma — one peaceful cast at a time.
Why Fishing Works
-
Nature’s Calm: The sights and sounds of water reduce stress and anxiety, creating a natural environment for emotional healing.
-
Present-Moment Focus: Casting, watching the line, and waiting for a bite act as gentle mindfulness, interrupting intrusive thoughts and hypervigilance.
-
Camaraderie Without Pressure: Shared experiences with fellow veterans and first responders foster connection and combat isolation.
-
Sense of Accomplishment: Landing a fish or mastering a simple skill rebuilds confidence and purpose in a low-stakes setting.

The Healing Power of the Water
Time on the water is more than fishing — it’s proven therapy:
• Reduces PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and stress
• Improves sleep and mood
• Builds brotherhood and purpose
